Guy Tillim, Roma Città Di Mezzo

Guy Tillim looks for non-monumental Rome, avoids the detail, appropriates his Rome. Everything is alone or in part in Tillim’s mind and eyes, and comes to this first job out of Africa. Tillim looks for the middle city, looks for a light in the middle (the rainy winter for years is a privilege for him), he seeks out an idea born of the long observation of neorealist and re-elaborated cinema. And in this middle city the most complex thing is the measure: how close, how far away? Much is in this strong tension in measuring the mid-city dimension, a city where Tillim is alone, free to think, approach and move away.
